There is a lot of debate on the matter of exercise more specific the best time to exercise. Some people would prefer waking up at 6 a.m. to go for a morning jog or exercise while some would prefer exercise in the evening after completing all their daily tasks.
The more confusing part is that studies done by researchers have also proven to be inconclusive on the whole matter, with researchers being divided. Some of the studies have shown that the night time or evening is the best time to work out while some studies have shown that those who exercise in the early morning get more of an effective workout.
The important thing to do while exercising is maintaining consistency and this can be done by knowing the time of day that makes it easier for you to work out. Here are some things you can use to decide what time is best for you:
- Body clock
This is also known as circadian rhythm. It is governed by the earth rotation and influences body functions such as body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, and hormone levels. These body functions play a role in your body’s desire to exercise. Your body clock determines what kind of person you are, whether you are an early bird or a night owl.Assuming all other factors like family and work aren’t deterrence then your body clock can be pretty useful in determining what time of day you should exercise.
This also determines what time of the day you should exercise. If you are having trouble maintaining consistency, then research suggests that the morning time would be the best time to exercise, but remember to give you body more time to warm up
- Daily activities
This aspect has more to do with how many things you have to do throughout the day. Some people find it hard to exercise when they have to fight with themselves in the morning just to get out of bed. It is advised that if you have a lot of things to do throughout the course of the day, then the best time of day to exercise would be in the evening.
- Find your own best time
Everyone has their own timings. These timings are different from one person to the next. It is because of this that sometimes you personally should look for what time is best for you to exercise. You could try working out at different times of the day to find which time period (morning, noon or evening) works best for you.
Exercising is good for your health, but it only becomes effective when you can establish consistency in your routine. Try to find out what time and workout routine works best for you to get the most out of your workout and achieve your goals. Some experts would advise people to switch up their routine once they get into the habit of exercise. The main aim of this is to make exercise more enjoyable and push people to keep working out.
