The 60-day Insanity Max 30 program is broken down into two separate months, very similar to the original Insanity.
The first month will involve doing the same workouts each week, 5 days a week. Once the second month kicks in, the workouts become significantly longer and more advanced. (We’ll talk about exercise length in Convenience and Usability)
Unlike Insanity, the workouts are decidedly one-sided, instead of being a blend of everything. There are two cardio-centered workouts and two resistance-centered workouts for each month, with a more blended and difficult Friday Fight workout as your last workout of the week.
One of the more exciting components of the Insanity Max 30 program is the inclusion of Tabata interval training – a (very) high intensity interval routine that’s been proven to be one of the most effective methods for getting the most out of your workouts in the shortest amount of time.
In addition to the core workouts, there are also two bonus workouts available: Pulse and Ab Attack 10.
Pulse is an optional “rest day” workout that can be used on your days off (should be two) during the week. While it’s a great option, we’ve found that an outside activity is just as effective (if not more) and more pleasurable than the Pulse regimen. This one we could’ve done without.
Ab Attack 10 is a short, ten-minute ab-focused blitz workout that can be integrated up to twice a week. Even with such a short workout, we’ve found that the Ab Attack 10 holds up well with the core workouts in terms of intensity and effectiveness. It’s a nice addition to the program.

2. MAX OUT Guide
The MAX OUT guide is your instruction guide for implementing the core principle of Shaun T’s Max:30 program: push yourself to the “max” every day you workout.
If that sounds a little too “woo-woo” for your tastes, don’t be so quick to judge. We felt the same way, too, at first. But after researching the guide, we found that it’s actually a very beneficial and effective tool for overcoming your mental obstacles.
Without giving too much away, it’s based on measuring your previous progress and aiming to beat it with each subsequent workout. The amount of time Shaun T recommends you beat it by is 30 seconds.
3. Nutrition to the MAX
Nutrition to the MAX varies slightly from your traditional nutrition guides, like P90’s or P90X’s. Its approach is aimed more at portion control and cutting back on key harmful ingredients like bad fats, sugars, and salt.
While you’ll still find healthy food options and meal plans within the pages, the main focus is on controlling the amount of bad stuff you consume without having to give it up entirely. We like this approach because, let’s face it, it’s extremely difficult to completely change your diet forever.
4. Insanity Max Calendar
The Insanity Max Out Calendar is a wall calendar that lists all of the workouts for your 60-days on a per-day basis. Our recommendation is to mark through the days as you complete them (a surprisingly powerful motivator).

5. Ab Maximizer Calendar
Essentially the same thing as the Insanity Max Calendar, except it compliments the Ab Maximizer workouts for the 60 days.
6. No Time to Cook Guide
This is a neat addition to the Base Kit, and one we feel you’ll refer to on a consistent basis. The No Time to Cook guide is basically a guide that aims to give you a game plan for making better choices when you’re dining out – either at a sit-down restaurant or fast food joint.
While it’s not jam-packed with information, it does include some very useful tips for keeping yourself in check and not falling off the “nutritional wagon.”
Convenience and Usability
We’d argue that Insanity Max 30 is one of the most convenient at-home workout programs currently on the market.
No equipment is required to perform each workout, and the maximum time you’ll spend on any given workout is 45 minutes (which doesn’t start until Month 2).
The first month’s workouts will run approximately 30 minutes, and the second month’s workouts approximately 45 minutes. Ab Maximizer workouts are recommend twice a week (form Weeks 2 to 4 and 6 to 8) which will add about another 15 minutes to the total workout time for those days.
Insanity Max 30 is Insanity on steroids, with no cool-downs in-between. To be perfectly honest, this workout is tough and not for the physically challenged.
There are “modified” options for each exercise, but this doesn’t take away from the difficulty factor, like with P90. The only thing the modified variations do is lessen the impact on your joints (if needed).
But if you show up each day and put in the work, focus on maxing out, and don’t give up, there’s no feasible way you’re not going to get visible, positive results from using this workout.
The only investment required is the purchase of this product. There are ZERO additional purchases to be made. The only thing you may want to consider is buying an exercise mat, especially if you have hardwood or tiled floors.
Insanity Max 30 Reviews & Results
The Max Out factor in this program means you’re going to lose weight, and lose it fast. While there have been some reports of muscle gain while using Insanity Max 30, it’s heavily favored more towards fat loss.
As matter of fact, there have been a couple of consumers who have reported losing a bit of mass during the 60 days (but, from our research, it doesn’t appear to be typical).

Learning curve. Since the workouts go so fast, you’ll find yourself struggling for the first few workouts to keep up with exercises you’re not already familiar with.
Back complaints. There have been a handful of reports where consumers complained about tweaking their backs during the workout. We can see how that can happen. If you’ve suffered from previous back complications, we recommend you pass on this one (and maybe look into P90).
Not many vegan recipes. While we really like the nutrition guides, we would like to see more vegan-based recipes in later editions.
